CONSERVATION EFFORTS

Environment

At Visit Sian Ka’an, we believe that all tourism should be sustainable. That’s because we know how damaging irresponsible tourism can be – particularly when it affects ecosystems as unique and fragile as they are in Sian Ka’an. With that in mind, we’ve worked hard to make our tours as eco-friendly as possible. For example, we limit each excursion to just 6 people. Our company is completely self sustaining with a sustainable business policy. We support a tree-planting program to offset our carbon footprint.

Future projects will include promoting meaningful environmental education and conservation projects, such as a Native tree planting project or the Save the Marine Turtle project. Most importantly that many projects will include the help of local school children. After all, today’s schoolchildren are tomorrow’s conservationists – the people who will continue our work for decades to come

A Team Effort

To us, Sian Ka’an is one of the most breathtaking places on earth and we care deeply about each and every plant and animal that lives here. But it takes more than a small team of enthusiasts to protect an area like Sian Ka’an. To really make a difference, you need every member of the local community – and everybody who visits – to think and feel the same way about conserving the environment we are living in.

As we always say: “You can only conserve what you know and what you have learnt to care for.
