Discover the planet's second largest barrier reef

A spectacular tapestry of coral that is home to dolphins, marine turtles and up to 500 species of fish, the Mesoamerican Reef is one of the most extraordinary places to snorkel on this planet. And because the Caribbean waters are so unusually warm, you can remain submerged for as long as you like without any risk of getting cold!
Second only to the Great Barrier Reef in size, the Mesoamerican Reef is very much the jewel in this magnificent region’s crown. In fact it was recently identified as one of the top 10 coral reef “Biodiversity Hotspots” in the world – which is why we need to protect it.

There's only one way to wind down after a truly breathtaking snorkelling session, and that's by chilling out on an untouched sandy beach. We will take you to one of the region's most beautiful beaches, where you can enjoy a picnic in the mid-afternoon sun, or a snooze in the welcome shade of a coconut tree. Then we will head back along the Caribbean coast via a winding mangrove canal to the lagoon of Boca Paila and the Mayan Canal, where you can observe tropical birds hunting for fish, visit a small ancient Maya Ruin on the way (the Xhlapak Ruin), while the guide will explain about its history, the wildlife and then ecosystems in Sian Ka'an. Then you will have the possibility to float in the fresh and crystal clear waters of the Mayan Canal. Lunch will be served on a great natural spot while you can enjoy some free time or relax surrounded by nature! What a great finish to an awesome Sian Ka'an tour!
